Freezer Repair — Book a Visit Today

A freezer that quits is a clock running down on your food. Most of what we see comes down to a handful of parts: a failed evaporator fan, a defrost heater or thermostat that stopped cycling, frost choking the coils, a bad door gasket letting Florida humidity pour in, or a compressor and start relay that took a lightning hit. On a visit, we pull temperatures, listen to the sealed system, check the defrost circuit, and inspect the seal and drain line. Then we tell you what failed and what it takes to fix it. Chest freezers, uprights, garage units, and the freezer half of a side-by-side all get the same walkthrough. Call us and we will get you scheduled.

Freezer Repair — residential freezer being serviced

The freezer symptoms we hear most

  • Everything in there is soft but the light still comes on Evaporator fan motor, start relay, or a sealed-system loss of refrigerant
  • Thick frost building up on the back wall Defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or control board not running the defrost cycle
  • Water pooling on the garage floor under the freezer Plugged or frozen defrost drain, or a gasket sweating in humid air
  • It runs constantly and never seems to shut off Dirty condenser coils, failed thermostat or thermistor, or a door not sealing
  • Ice cream is icy and meat has freezer burn Temperature swing from a weak seal, overloaded shelves, or a drifting control

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Make sure the plug is seated and the outlet is live, since garage circuits and surge strips trip more than people expect.

Freezer Repair — quick answers

How long can food stay frozen once the freezer stops?

A full, unopened freezer usually holds safe temperatures for a day or so; a half-empty one loses ground faster. Keep the door shut, move what you can to a cooler with ice, and call us so we can get out there.

Is heavy frost buildup normal in Florida?

Some frost is normal here because humid air rides in every time the door opens. A solid sheet on the back wall or coils is not. That points to the defrost system or a gasket that stopped sealing.

Can a garage freezer survive our summers?

Only if it is rated for wide temperature swings. Standard models struggle when the garage climbs past the high nineties, running long cycles and stressing the compressor. We check whether the unit is fighting its location or truly failing.

Do you work on chest freezers and standalone uprights?

Yes. Chest freezers, uprights, drawer models, and the freezer side of a refrigerator are all fair game. We service all major brands as an independent company, and we will tell you honestly when a repair no longer makes sense.

Could a lightning storm have damaged it?

It happens often here. A nearby strike or surge can take out the control board, the inverter, or the compressor start components while the light and fan still work. We test the electronics before assuming the sealed system failed.

Should I defrost it before you arrive?

Not usually. Seeing the frost pattern tells us a lot about which part gave out. If water is running onto the floor, mop it up and leave the rest alone until we take a look.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the noise

Describe what you see, hear, or smell. Buzzing, leaking, burning, or dead silence. Model number helps if you can find the sticker. We ask a few questions and book a window that fits your day.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose in person

A technician comes to your kitchen or laundry room, tests the machine, and finds the actual failed part. You hear what went wrong in plain words, then decide whether repair or replacement makes better sense.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and retest

With your approval we complete the work, then run the appliance through a real cycle before packing up. Floors get wiped, packaging leaves with us, and you get care tips for our salt air and storms.

Why homeowners call us

  • North Florida conditionsCoastal humidity rusts drain pans. Salt air eats at outdoor-adjacent dryer vents. Lightning surges fry control boards mid-storm. We see these failures constantly and know which part to check first instead of guessing our way through.
  • Independent shopWe are not tied to any manufacturer, so we service refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, washers, and dryers from most major brands. Our advice comes from what your machine needs, not from a brand sales script.
  • Snowbird schedulesEmpty houses hide problems. An icemaker that flooded in March, a fridge that quit in July. We handle season-open checks and season-close shutdowns, and we can coordinate with a neighbor or property manager.
  • Straight answersSome machines are worth fixing. Some are past it. If a repair does not make sense for the age and condition of your unit, we say that out loud so you can spend your money somewhere better.
  • All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more — as an independent repair company.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so — often on the phone.
